Overview

As Portfolio Management Tooling Manager you own and evolve Tesco’s PPM tooling landscape, acting as primary Product Owner for Planview and aligning with PPMO priorities. You’ll drive roadmap, backlog and releases while engaging sponsors and end users to deliver value across Finance Change and Enabling Functions Technology portfolios. You will lead tooling improvements, governance, data quality and adoption initiatives to boost portfolio delivery. This is a role that shapes platform maturity within a collaborative, cross‑functional environment.

Responsibilities

  • Own and maintain the Portfolio Tooling product vision, strategy and roadmap aligned to PPMO priorities.
  • Act as Product Owner for Planview, prioritize backlog based on value, risk and feedback.
  • Engage sponsors, stakeholders and end users to capture requirements and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Translate requirements into user stories, functional specs and acceptance criteria.
  • Plan, coordinate and manage releases with proper testing and deployment.
  • Develop and implement enhancements and process improvements.
  • Manage tooling administration: user access, licences, permissions and configuration.
  • Drive continuous improvement to maximise tool value and user experience.
  • Lead testing and validation of new functionality before release.
  • Maintain Project Boards and ways of working to support delivery.
  • Ensure data integrity, governance and proactive monitoring across the platform.
  • Support reporting, dashboards and KPI development for portfolio governance.
  • Collaborate with reporting, finance and governance to improve data usage and insight.
  • Be the primary contact for tooling support and issue resolution across users.
  • Develop and deliver user training and educational materials to improve adoption.
  • Foster a strong user community and a knowledge-sharing culture.
  • Build a community of practice with external Planview customers.
  • Liaise with third-party suppliers to manage support and roadmap updates.
  • Define integrations with connected business systems and coordinate with technical teams.
  • Lead root cause analysis for system issues to improve stability and performance.
  • Maintain platform documentation and administration guides.
  • Provide regular roadmap and metrics updates to sponsors and PPMO Hub leads.
  • Ensure enhancements align with governance, change and release management.
  • Support success measures and KPIs demonstrating Planview value.

Key requirements

  • Proven experience as Product Owner/Manager or similar role for enterprise applications.
  • Strong Planview administration, configuration and enhancement experience.
  • Experience managing roadmaps, backlogs and stakeholder requirements.
  • Knowledge of project management principles, user stories, backlog management and acceptance criteria.
  • Experience leading releases, testing and change implementation.
  • Understanding of portfolio, programme and project management and PMO models.
  • Experience managing user access, RBAC and governance controls.
  • Proven ability to drive platform adoption, training and stakeholder engagement.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to translate challenges into tech solutions.
  • Experience working with third-party suppliers and support teams.
  • Understanding of system integrations, data flows and process automation.
  • Experience supporting reporting, dashboards and MI requirements.
  • Strong focus on data quality, governance and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with influence across levels.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and balance strategy with delivery.
