Backup Architect (f/m)

Overview

In this role you will shape and implement the data protection and recovery strategy for hybrid multi-cloud environments at Airbus, securing critical information assets. You will work within the DIC public and private cloud team to design scalable, resilient backup services that meet regulatory standards. You’ll drive modernization through automation, addressing recovery challenges and reducing human error. Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain long-term data protection strategy and technology roadmap for hybrid, multi-cloud, container, and on-premise environments
• Lead the technical design of scalable, resilient, and secure Disaster Recovery architectures with robust failover
• Evaluate emerging technologies (immutable backups, air-gapped storage) to modernize the data protection stack
• Drive automation and orchestration of backup and recovery processes to improve efficiency and minimize human error
• Act as the technical authority and escalation point for complex data recovery failures, bridging operations, security, and business continuity

Key requirements

• Significant professional experience in IT Infrastructure with a focus on Backup and Recovery Architecture
• Deep knowledge of Enterprise Backup platforms (Veritas, Cohesity, Veeam) and storage technologies (SAN, NAS, DAS, Object Storage)
• Strong understanding of virtualization platforms, database backup methodologies, cloud, and container technologies
• Solid grasp of security strategies including ransomware protection, encryption, and Zero Trust architecture
• Strong analytical thinking, crisis management, and ability to communicate risks to technical and non-technical stakeholders
