Overview

As a Mechanical Engineer in the Fire Suppression and Production Systems team, you will design and deliver mechanical solutions for fire suppression and production equipment throughout their lifecycle. You’ll own work packages, ensure compliance with customer specs and standards, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive safe, reliable systems. The role supports regulated industries and offshore projects, contributing to safer facilities and energy-efficient operations. This is a hands-on role with opportunities to mentor peers and influence engineering best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor Graduate Engineers and CAD Designers; promote engineering best practices
  • Own engineering work packages, oversee project planning, risk management, and change control
  • Produce and review calculations, specifications, and documentation (BOMs, P&IDs, datasheets, FDSs, test procedures, IOMs)
  • Develop mechanical designs for fire suppression and production systems; perform sizing and component selection
  • Coordinate with suppliers and stakeholders to resolve technical queries; support FATs, testing, commissioning, and fabrication activities
  • Identify risks, opportunities, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support design reviews and secure approvals from Classification Societies and IVs (e.g., DNV, Lloyd’s Register, BV)
  • Liaise on offshore, marine, and industrial certification requirements

Key requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 3-7 years’ experience in a relevant engineering role
  • Experience delivering projects within regulated industries
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, standards, and industry codes
  • Experience with packaged equipment, pressure systems, or process systems
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Teams
  • Familiarity with DNV, ASME, API, ISO, or equivalent standards
  • Experience acting as the engineering focal point with Classification Societies and Independent Verification Bodies
  • Ability to lead design reviews and secure design approvals from organisations such as DNV, Lloyd’s Register, BV, ABS, and TÜV
  • Knowledge of offshore, marine, and industrial certification requirements
