We’re looking for someone who isn’t afraid to get stuck in, can lead by example and has the technical knowledge to support a busy engineering department.
The Role of the Senior Mechanical Engineer:
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you’ll play a key role in overseeing daily engineering activities, supporting the maintenance team and ensuring production equipment operates safely and efficiently. Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading, supporting and mentoring members of the engineering team.
- Organising and prioritising maintenance activities to minimise production downtime.
- Remaining hands‑on with machinery maintenance, fault finding and engineering activities.
- Supporting planned preventative maintenance and TPM activities.
- Identifying recurring equipment failures and implementing long‑term improvements.
- Conducting root cause analysis.
- Coordinating engineering shift reports and maintenance documentation.
The Ideal Senior Mechanical Engineer:
We’re looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer with strong technical knowledge and the confidence to take on additional responsibility. Ideally, you’ll have:
- Previous experience in a mechanical maintenance or engineering role within a manufacturing or industrial environment, including apprenticeship/NVQ Level 3 at a minimum.
- Strong mechanical fault‑finding and diagnostic skills.
- Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- An understanding of electrical equipment and control systems.
- Experience supporting, mentoring or leading engineering teams.
- Experience with preventative maintenance and continuous improvement.
Previous leadership experience would be advantageous, although engineers who are ready to progress into a more senior position are encouraged to apply.
Package Offered to the Senior Mechanical Engineer:
- 38 hours per week – DAY SHIFTS!
- Monday to Thursday: 7:00am – 3:30pm
- Friday: 7:00am – 1:00pm
- Start and finish times may vary depending on business requirements.
- £67,500 annual salary
- Permanent, full-time position
- Early Friday finish
- 33 days’ annual leave, including bank holidays
