The Opportunity

We’re recruiting for a Shift Engineering Supervisor to join a busy, fast-paced processing operation in Enfield. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll take responsibility for a shift engineering team, ensuring plant and machinery are running safely, efficiently and with minimal downtime.

You’ll still be heavily involved technically – supporting breakdowns, fault finding and repairs – while also coordinating your team, prioritising workloads and driving improvements across the site.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead and supervise a team of multi-skilled engineers and contractors
  • Prioritise planned and reactive maintenance across the shift
  • Carry out hands-on fault finding, diagnostics and repairs
  • Support preventative maintenance and minimise plant downtime
  • Work across mechanical systems including hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Support Root Cause Analysis following breakdowns and recurring faults
  • Identify opportunities to improve plant reliability and performance
  • Allocate workloads and ensure engineering priorities are delivered
  • Coach and develop engineers within the team
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records through the CMMS system
  • Ensure all engineering work is completed safely and to a high standard
  • Deliver effective shift handovers and communicate engineering issues clearly

What We’re Looking For

You’ll ideally be an experienced Engineering Supervisor, Engineering Team Leader, Maintenance Team Leader or Lead Engineer from a fast-paced industrial environment.

  • HNC in Mechanical or Plant Engineering
  • Previous experience leading or supervising an engineering/maintenance team
  • Strong mechanical fault finding and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Welding experience
  • Experience delivering planned and reactive maintenance
  • The ability to remain hands-on while leading a team
  • Confidence prioritising engineering activity in a busy operational environment
  • Experience within waste, recycling, manufacturing, processing, aggregates, quarrying or another heavy industrial environment would be particularly relevant.

The Package

  • Upto £60,000
  • London Weighting Allowance
  • 4 on, 4 off shift pattern
  • Ongoing training and career development
  • Generous pension scheme
  • Life cover
  • Retail and leisure discounts
  • Holiday and travel discounts

If you’re an experienced engineering professional who enjoys leading a team but still wants to remain technically hands-on, we’d love to hear from you.
