Overview
In this role you lead the end‑to‑end design process for projects, ensuring solutions meet customer requirements, framework deliverables and compliant standards. You’ll manage design consultants, assess risks, drive value engineering and monitor progress to protect time, cost and quality. You work across two-stage framework submissions, coordinating with cross‑functional teams to deliver robust, coordinated designs. Your BIM leadership and governance help realise excellence across projects, from bid to handover. You’ll contribute to Galliford Try’s Delivering Excellence culture.

Responsibilities
- Manage the whole design process to meet customer requirements and framework deliverables
- Identify contractual, financial, technical and operational risks and pursue value engineering
- Support pipeline fulfilment safely, on time, to the required quality
- Lead appointment and management of design consultants, defining contractual requirements and deliverables
- Review fee proposals from consultants and monitor their performance
- Ensure collaborative design delivery on time and within budget
- Lead KPI assessments and production of progress reports
- Develop CDP packages for full coordination and compliance
- Assess consultants under CDM 2015 and ensure obligations are met
- Ensure designs consider health, safety and buildability, manage design information flows on CDP/DB contracts using CDE
- Align design outputs with relevant RIBA stages and framework KPI targets
- Support two‑stage framework submissions and project delivery to client expectations and budget
- Implement Galliford Try policies (HSS, Design Management, Risk Management, BIM strategy) and continuous improvement
- Ensure maximum potential on framework KPIs and best on framework
Key requirements
- Expert BIM capability with bid reviews, EIR/BEP development, BIM consultant appointments and outputs capture
- Strong knowledge of BIM standards, naming protocols, asset register development, COBie outputs
- Construction/Design related HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent
- Member or working towards CIOB/RIBA/RICS
- BIM expertise across new build and refurbishment in education, healthcare, civic sectors; frameworks, D&B contracts
- Proven ability to deliver design on time, within budget and to high customer satisfaction
- Analytical problem solving, commercially astute, computer literate
