Senior Payroll Specialist – UKG

Overview

In this role you will lead accurate, timely payroll for a mid-sized workforce and ensure compliance with tax laws across states. You will work closely with HR and Finance to maintain data integrity and resolve payroll inquiries, while continuously improving payroll processes and systems. The position sits in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail and problem-solving drive reliable compensation. Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end payroll processing for 600 employees across multiple states
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations
• Process and reconcile payroll data including earnings, deductions, benefits, and taxes
• Maintain accurate employee payroll records in the HRIS and payroll systems
• Handle payroll audits and resolve discrepancies promptly
• Prepare and submit tax filings (W-2s, 1099s, etc.)
• Stay updated on payroll law changes and implement updates as needed
• Collaborate with HR and Finance to ensure data integrity and resolve employee payroll inquiries
• Assist with system upgrades, implementations, and process improvements

Key requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field (preferred)
• Minimum of 3 years of payroll processing experience with multi-state or international payroll experience a plus
• Strong knowledge of payroll systems (UKG preferred) and Microsoft Excel
• Comprehensive understanding of payroll laws, regulations, and tax compliance
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
• CPP certification is a plus
