A varied, hands-on position combining delivery driving with Goods In, stock movements and wider warehouse work.
DoughGirl and The Chuckling Cheese Company are looking for a reliable, hardworking and proactive colleague to join our Warehouse and Logistics team.
When deliveries or collections are needed, you will transport products, ingredients, packaging and other goods safely between our site, customers, suppliers and other locations. When you are not driving, you will support Goods In, picking, replenishment and day-to-day warehouse operations. This is an active warehouse role as well as a driving role.
Reports to: Warehouse Manager
Unsuccessful applications and files are securely deleted after three months.
Pay and progression
The starting rate is £13.50 per hour, rising to £14.10 per hour following successful completion of probation, required training and demonstration of competency within the role. You may also earn up to £3,200 per annum through the Company Performance Bonus Scheme, subject to applicable company performance targets and scheme terms.
Driving and deliveries
- Complete scheduled customer deliveries safely and on time, and collect goods from suppliers and other locations when required.
- Load and secure the vehicle correctly, checking products and quantities against delivery paperwork.
- Transport goods in suitable condition, complete documentation and obtain proof of delivery where required.
- Provide friendly, professional service to customers and suppliers and report delays or delivery issues promptly.
- Help load and unload at delivery locations, check collections before returning to site and return paperwork and information after each journey.
- Follow agreed routes and use time and fuel efficiently.
Vehicle responsibilities
- Complete required daily vehicle checks and keep the vehicle clean and presentable.
- Report defects, damage and maintenance needs immediately.
- Secure loads properly and follow company vehicle procedures.
- Drive safely and comply with applicable road traffic and driving requirements.
Warehouse duties
- Receive and unload deliveries, checking goods against documentation and identifying shortages, damage or incorrect items.
- Put stock into the correct locations, pick materials and replenish Production and Dispatch.
- Move ingredients, packaging and finished products around the site and prepare goods for internal movement or delivery.
- Support Goods In, Goods Out and periodic stock counts.
- Keep stock locations accurate, follow stock rotation and report discrepancies.
- Maintain clean, organised and safe warehouse areas and help colleagues as required.
Supporting Production and Dispatch
- Respond promptly to requests for ingredients, packaging and materials.
- Make sure Production receives required stock in good time and support Dispatch with stock movements.
- Return unused stock to the correct locations and communicate shortages early.
- Learn the operation and anticipate needs to prevent avoidable production and dispatch delays.
Stock accuracy
- Put stock in the right locations and record movements correctly.
- Check quantities, rotate stock and report discrepancies immediately.
- Follow the correct process before moving stock and support periodic counts.
Food safety, hygiene and health and safety
Follow site food safety, hygiene, allergen, product-handling, stock-rotation, health-and-safety, manual-handling, PPE, vehicle and loading procedures. Full training will be provided.
Essential skills and experience
- A full UK driving licence appropriate for the vehicles required for this role and confident, responsible driving.
- Reliable and punctual, with good communication and attention to detail.
- Comfortable carrying out a physically active role and working independently on deliveries as well as with the Warehouse team.
- Able to follow procedures, organise and prioritise tasks and take a proactive approach.
- Warehouse work, Goods In or Goods Out, and stock control.
- Food manufacturing or FMCG.
- Warehouse or ERP systems, manual-handling training or a forklift licence where applicable.
Physical requirements
The role may involve extended driving, frequent entry to and exit from the vehicle, loading and unloading, standing and walking, lifting and moving materials, manoeuvring pallets or equipment, bending and reaching, and working in warehouse and food-production areas. Appropriate manual-handling training and equipment will be provided.
