Overview

In this role you will support the Environment and Water portfolio as a Quantity Surveyor. You’ll drive pre-contract tender activity, advise on award reports, and ensure robust estimates aligned with scope and risk. Post-contract you’ll manage commercial performance, budgets, and forecasts while administering NEC-based contracts and using CEMAR. You will build strong client relationships and contribute to internal business development, helping deliver sustainable water and environmental projects. This role offers exposure to cross-functional teams and impact across projects from initial tendering to final account.

Responsibilities

  • Lead pre-contract tender process, including assessment, queries, and award recommendations
  • Develop robust estimates aligned to scope with risk allowances
  • Administer contracts in line with NEC3/4 ECC requirements (A/C/E) and manage communications, payments, compensation events, and programmes
  • Maintain proactive cost management, budgets, forecasts, and final account activity
  • Produce accurate commercial reporting and support mitigations for project and programme risk
  • Foster strong client relationships and contribute to internal business development
  • Administer contracts via CEMAR and manage stakeholder expectations
  • Make timely, well-reasoned decisions aligned with client needs and team capabilities

Key requirements

  • NEC3/4 ECC main Option A, C or E extensive experience for delivery, administration and management
  • Demonstrated post-contract commercial management from award to final account (budget control, forecast-to-complete, payment assessments, compensation events)
  • Experience with contract management software such as CEMAR
