The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Health & Safety Manager to join a well–established manufacturing and processing organisation operating within a highly regulated, high–hazard environment.
This is a key site–based leadership role, responsible for driving a positive safety culture, ensuring legislative compliance, and supporting operational teams to achieve high standards of health, safety and process safety performance.
The successful candidate will become a member of the Site Leadership Team and play a pivotal role in influencing stakeholders across the business, promoting best practice and ensuring Health & Safety remains at the forefront of operational decision–making.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all Health & Safety activities across a large operational manufacturing site.
- Provide expert Health & Safety guidance to site leadership, managers and employees.
- Support and mentor Health & Safety team members on a day–to–day basis.
- Conduct audits, inspections and compliance reviews to ensure adherence to legal and internal standards.
- Lead incident investigations and ensure robust corrective and preventative actions are implemented.
- Develop, review and maintain Health & Safety procedures, policies and risk assessments.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant Health & Safety legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Support emergency preparedness activities, including response planning and emergency exercises.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to wider HSE objectives across the business.
- Produce reports, analyse trends and provide recommendations to improve site performance.
Essential Requirements
- NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification.
- CMIOSH status, or working towards Chartered Membership.
- Significant Health & Safety experience within a high–risk or high–hazard operational environment.
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation and compliance requirements.
- Demonstrable experience undertaking audits, investigations and risk assessments.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to influence and drive a positive safety culture.
Desirable Experience
- Experience within manufacturing, chemical, process, engineering, energy, utilities, waste, heavy industry or other high–hazard environments.
- Understanding of process safety principles.
- Knowledge of COMAH regulations.
- Experience working across multiple sites or supporting wider business functions.
