Overview
In this role you own a private client portfolio within a growing tax team at a leading professional services firm. You will balance complex personal tax compliance with advisory work across CGT, remuneration planning, trusts and IHT, while developing junior teammates. You’ll manage WIP, billing and client proposals, and actively look for opportunities to broaden the firm’s advisory services. You work autonomously, delivering high-quality service to long-term clients and contributing to team growth and efficiency.

Responsibilities
- Manage your own varied portfolio of private clients, trusts and estates and act as main contact for high-quality service
- Oversee complex personal tax compliance and participate in advisory work (CGT, remuneration planning, trusts, IHT)
- Develop junior team members and identify opportunities to add value for clients
- Oversee MTD quarterly reporting, Final Declarations and Self-Assessment returns
- Review work produced by junior members and manage WIP, billing and fee proposals
- Identify opportunities for additional work and cross-sell wider services
- Prepare and support ad-hoc tax advisory projects
- Advise on CGT, remuneration planning, Trust registrations and IHT returns
- Collaborate with specialist Tax Advisory and wider business teams
- Line-manage, mentor and support junior staff
- Drive adoption of new technology and more efficient ways of working
Key requirements
- Strong experience across Trust and Estate Tax Compliance, Trust Registration Service, Trust Administration and IHT Returns
- Experience managing a client portfolio and building strong client relationships
- Ability to undertake independent technical research and provide practical solutions
- Previous experience reviewing work and supporting junior team members
- Commercial awareness including WIP and billing management
- Experience using CCH would be advantageous but not essential
