Overview

In this role you will support delivery of private client tax advisory services for a diverse client base, helping to expand your technical expertise. You work closely with senior colleagues to manage engagements, build lasting client relationships, and identify additional advisory opportunities. You will handle a variety of tax matters, from inheritance tax planning to international tax, gaining broad exposure across the practice. Responsibilities

  • Support delivery of private client tax advisory services to a varied client portfolio
  • Act as a primary contact to build and maintain long-term client relationships
  • Advise on inheritance tax, capital gains tax planning, trust structuring, residence and international tax
  • Support transaction-related tax advice and other complex advisory projects
  • Collaborate with senior team members to identify new advisory opportunities
  • Participate in client meetings and present complex tax advice clearly
  • Manage work in progress, assist with proposals, fee discussions and new business
  • Train and mentor junior team members
  • Conduct independent technical research across tax matters
  • Work with colleagues across the wider business to provide a joined-up service
  • Attend networking events to grow professional network
  • Identify opportunities to introduce clients to other specialist services

Key requirements

  • CTA, ATT, STEP, CA or equivalent, or qualified by experience
  • Experience in private client tax advisory
  • Strong interest in broad tax advisory expertise
  • Ability to conduct independent technical research and apply findings to client situations
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to explain complex tax matters clearly and commercially
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Proactive approach to business development and networking
  • Tolley’s research tools experience would be advantageous but not essential
