Overview

In this role you will handle claimant-based property damage recoveries within the Insurance Property Recovery team. You’ll investigate a range of perils, manage your own caseload, and advance files from initial claim to trial while negotiating settlements. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams and contribute to marketing and client-facing activities in a growing firm. The role combines hands-on litigation work with opportunities for career development in a supportive environment. This position offers a clear path to progression within a dynamic Claims Solutions Group.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate liability and manage general recoveries files (fast, intermediate, multi-track)
  • Handle own caseload, negotiate quantum and settlement with third parties
  • Obtain witness statements, gather documents, draft letters of claim, issue proceedings
  • Instruct Counsel/experts and progress files through to trial
  • Prepare and manage disclosure, trial readiness, and communications with clients/parties
  • Support marketing and business development within the team
  • Maintain compliance with data security, client protocols, and billing requirements
  • Aim to meet annual chargeable hours target (minimum 1440 hours)
  • Engage in client-facing activities and ESG initiatives
  • Participate in firm core strategy awareness and culture

Key requirements

  • Solicitor or CILEX Litigator, or substantial pre-qualification experience
  • Willingness to learn insurance property damage law, including basic contract and tort concepts
  • Strong communication skills to liaise with clients, intermediaries, and colleagues
  • Ability to critically assess factual evidence, identify legal arguments
  • Professional attitude with commercial awareness, resilience, and confidence
