Your new role As Policy, Research & Engagement Officer, you will act as the first point of contact for enquiries, providing information, guidance and signposting to relevant support services. You will engage with stakeholders in a sensitive and professional manner, ensuring a trauma-informed and person-centred approach at all duties will include:
- Managing incoming enquiries from service users and stakeholders.
- Providing information, advice and guidance, referring individuals to appropriate specialist and general support services where required.
- Maintaining accurate records using a case management system or similar database.
- Ensuring all personal and sensitive information is handled in accordance with data protection requirements.
- Collating, analysing and preparing information to support senior colleagues in delivering key organisational objectives.
- Undertaking research and information gathering to support policy development activities.
- Monitoring enquiries and engagement activity and producing statistical reports.
- Assisting with the development of communications materials and stakeholder updates.
- Monitoring media coverage and relevant developments across the sector.
- Supporting website and digital communication activities to raise awareness of the organisation’s work.
- Providing administrative and coordination support to meetings, panels and advisory groups.
What you’ll need to succeed
- Experience in an engagement, advisory or customer-facing role involving interaction with service users, clients or stakeholders.
- Knowledge and understanding of trauma-informed approaches.
- Experience supporting policy development, research projects or drafting written materials such as briefing papers, reports or guidance documents.
- Experience gathering and analysing evidence to support decision-making and policy recommendations.
- Experience handling confidential and personal data to a high standard.
- Experience creating communication materials for a range of audiences.
- Experience producing reports and presenting statistical information.
- Strong relationship-building skills with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and respond to changing demands.
- Strong IT skills, including information management systems, databases and Microsoft Office applications.
- An understanding of the role of media, social media and the wider political and public affairs environment.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience supporting victims, survivors or other vulnerable groups within an engagement, advisory or support capacity.
