Overview
As Lead Manufacturing Engineer you will own the transition of ideas from concept to prototype and first low-volume production. You will shape manufacturing strategy, processes, tooling and automation for initial products within a collaborative, technically skilled team. Your work directly influences product design for manufacturability and the path to scalable manufacturing in a well-funded deep-tech startup. This is a formative role with high ownership and a chance to shape the company’s manufacturing future.

Responsibilities
- Develop manufacturing and assembly processes for advanced electronic products
- Support transition from R&D prototype to commercial production
- Design and implement low-volume automation and robotic assembly solutions
- Collaborate with design engineers on DfM and DfA
- Evaluate manufacturing methods including adhesives, sealing, tooling, and precision assembly
- Support product validation, testing and certification activities
- Engage with external suppliers and manufacturing partners (PCB/PCBA suppliers, precision engineering)
- Establish manufacturing documentation, quality processes and scalable production methodologies
- Support longer-term manufacturing scale-up as the company grows
Key requirements
- Degree qualified in Engineering or related discipline
- Experience in advanced manufacturing, precision engineering, power electronics, aerospace, defence, medical devices, or similar high-reliability sectors
- Proven track record of taking products from concept/prototype to production
- Strong hands-on engineering capability with problem-solving in fast-moving environments
- Experience developing manufacturing processes, tooling or automation systems
- Knowledge of robotic systems or small-scale automation equipment
- Strong understanding of DfM and DfA principles
- Experience working with suppliers and subcontract manufacturers
- Comfortable in a fast-paced start-up or low-volume manufacturing environment
