Overview

As an Ecologist at Senior or Principal level, you drive ecological projects from concept to delivery, shaping landscapes, policy, and ecological practice. You’ll lead critical surveys, assessments, and mitigation design within a small, flexible team that values creativity, rigor, and client-focused outcomes. The role offers autonomy, a collaborative culture, and opportunities to innovate with new methodologies and business growth. You’ll contribute to biodiversity outcomes while developing your leadership and expertise in a values-driven consultancy.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver and/or lead ecological consultancy work (habitat surveys Phase 1/NVC/UK Habitats, protected species surveys, EcIAs, Biodiversity Net Gain assessments, mitigation design)
  • Manage and deliver projects across Home Counties, South, and Midlands with high-quality outcomes
  • Undertake technical reviews of ecological reports and maintain quality standards across the team
  • Support, mentor, and guide colleagues (depending on experience)
  • Contribute to business development and help grow the consultancy

Key requirements

  • A genuine passion for ecology and environmental conservation
  • Strong technical experience in habitat and/or protected species surveys
  • Survey licence for at least one protected species or demonstrable specialist expertise in another ecological field
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
