Our client, a well-established and growing construction and manufacturing business, is seeking an experienced Accounts Assistant to join their finance team on a 9-month maternity cover contract, with the potential for extension.

This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional to play a key role in supporting day-to-day financial operations. The successful candidate will have strong Purchase Ledger and CIS experience, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the Purchase Ledger function, ensuring supplier invoices are processed accurately and efficiently
  • Administer the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS), including subcontractor verification and monthly submissions
  • Complete supplier statement reconciliations and resolve any discrepancies promptly
  • Maintain accurate financial records and assist with month-end accounting processes
  • Act as the internal lead for project management software, supporting system administration, user adoption and process improvements
  • Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors and internal departments to ensure smooth financial operations
  • Provide support with reporting, finance administration and other ad hoc tasks as require

About You

  • Previous experience in a similar Accounts Assistant or Finance role
  • Strong working knowledge of the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS)
  • Solid Purchase Ledger experience
  • Experience carrying out statement reconciliations
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software systems
