Overview
In this role you act as the focal point for product safety reporting, risk management and safety performance across the site. You will lead the Quality and Safety Management Systems, ensuring regulatory and customer expectations are met. You’ll coordinate safety investigations, campaigns and training, and provide reports to senior leadership. The position supports regulatory audits and continuous improvement across quality and safety domains. Responsibilities
- Lead product safety reporting, risk management and investigations; monitor safety performance and promote safety initiatives
- Deliver and maintain the SMS in line with CAA Part 21G; update procedures and documentation
- Facilitate Safety Review Boards (SRB) and Safety Action Groups (SAG) and prepare safety performance reports
- Manage safety databases, trend analysis, and reporting tools; support safety improvement initiatives
- Coordinate regulatory and customer audits; act as primary CAA contact on SMS matters
- Develop and deliver product safety communications; organise safety campaigns and training across the organisation
- Promote Just Culture and positive reporting; participate in internal quality audits and approve new/modified products and processes
- Lead and support Quality Engineers and QC personnel in data collection, analysis and reporting; ensure EQS compliance and QA best practices
- Support product development/launch activities including testing, reliability analysis, design reviews and material evaluation
Key requirements
- Detailed knowledge of industry and customer quality registration schemes (ISO9001, CAA Part 21G, AS9100)
- Managing and promoting aviation occurrence reporting systems
- Ability to lead a small team of Quality personnel and drive performance
- Experience in H&S, disciplinary, training, and sickness management for teams
- Strong problem-solving skills (Six Sigma, 8D, root cause analysis) and use of related statistical tools
- Understanding of new product development and launch methodologies
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques (pFMEA, CTQ, control plans) and auditing techniques
- Familiarity with Lean/Six Sigma concepts related to process variation and corrective actions
- Understanding of product reliability concepts and design/process interfaces
