Overview

In this role you will provide commercially focused legal support to MUFG Corporate Markets across the UK and EMEA. You will partner with business leaders and cross-border teams to translate legal risk into practical, workable outcomes and help drive client delivery and growth. You will handle a mix of commercial contracts, regulatory and governance issues, with exposure to capital markets and corporate services. The role offers global collaboration, opportunities to deepen legal operations knowledge, and a path across MUFG Pension & Market Services. You will operate in a hybrid London office, coordinating across jurisdictions to enable efficient, business-facing legal support.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts with corporates and vendors, leading negotiations independently
  • Advise business leaders on legal risks with clear, commercially viable recommendations
  • Provide practical legal advice on disputes and operational issues as they arise
  • Support share registration and employee share plan administration, including FCA considerations
  • Collaborate with commercial, operational, risk and compliance teams to balance risk with growth
  • Coordinate cross-border matters, including local-law advice and external counsel across jurisdictions
  • Take ownership of matters, set priorities, progress work autonomously and escalate risks as needed
  • Build relationships across the business and deliver training where required
  • Develop and improve legal processes, templates and leverage technology to drive efficiency
  • Contribute to improvements in how legal support is delivered within Corporate Markets

Key requirements

  • Qualified solicitor in England and Wales with 4+ years PQE in private practice, in-house or both
  • Strong corporate and commercial contract drafting and negotiation experience
  • Knowledge of UK and EU data protection laws
  • Experience providing practical advice on disputes or operational legal issues
  • Interest in legal operations, knowledge management and legal technology
  • Commercial, pragmatic mindset with ability to identify key issues and propose clear positions
  • Confident in interacting with clients, external lawyers and senior stakeholders; collaborative yet independent
  • Ability to manage multiple matters with competing deadlines in a calm, accurate manner
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and adaptability across audiences
