In this role, you contribute to Development Planning projects across the UK, shaping transport strategies for commercial, retail and residential schemes. You’ll work within a multidisciplinary Development team, delivering transport input for masterplans, planning submissions and expert witness support. You will lead technical work on transport assessments and related planning components while mentoring early-career professionals. The role combines delivery, client engagement and business development within a global engineering firm focused on sustainable, high-impact development. Responsibilities
- Lead technical transport planning input on development projects (Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, access strategies, parking strategies, sustainable/active transport)
- Prepare and analyse traffic flow data for Transport Assessments and Environmental Statements
- Set up and run junction capacity modelling (Junctions 10, Linsig) and test scenarios
- Manage small-to-medium projects (budget/resource planning, invoicing) and support complex multi-disciplinary proposals
- Coordinate and lead client discussions and engage project stakeholders
- Mentor and share knowledge with Early Career Professionals and junior staff
- Utilise day-to-day software tools (Excel, Word) in project delivery
- Develop professional network for business development and client engagement
Key requirements
- Experience leading technical work on Transport Assessments, Travel Plans and related guidance
- Proficiency in traffic flow data analysis for Transport Assessments/ES
- Experience with junction capacity modelling software (Junctions 10, Linsig)
- Project management experience on small to medium projects
- Ability to supervise conceptual junction design (priority, roundabout, signals)
- Strong communication skills for client and stakeholder engagement
- Ability to mentor others, especially Early Career Professionals
- Chartered status or pursuing chartership in transport-related discipline (preferred)
