Overview
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will develop mechanical building services solutions for large-scale projects, with emphasis on chilled water systems, plantrooms and prefabricated MEP solutions. You’ll collaborate with design, BIM and project teams to take concepts through to manufacture and installation. The role offers exposure to complex MEP projects across Ireland, the UK and Europe within an established, growing specialist contractor. You will contribute to technically robust, coordinated designs that support delivery and performance goals.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical building services systems, including chilled water pipework and plant
- Incorporate chillers, pumps, heat exchangers and other equipment into solutions
- Perform mechanical design calculations (flow, pressure loss, sizing)
- Produce and review drawings, schematics, specifications, and technical documentation
- Coordinate MEP designs with BIM, electrical and project teams
- Support projects through design, manufacture and installation, resolving technical queries
Key requirements
- Experience in building services, MEP or mechanical engineering
- Relevant qualification in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering
- Experience with mechanical design in an engineering or construction environment
- Knowledge of HVAC, chilled water and building services systems
- Experience producing/interpreting technical drawings and specifications
- Experience with AutoCAD, Revit or similar design software (advantageous)
