Client Portfolio Manager – Private Credit – Associate Director/Director

Overview

In this role you will serve as a senior client portfolio manager for Barings’ European Private Credit capabilities, focusing on business development, client servicing, and cross-functional collaboration. You will communicate strategy and performance to clients and internal partners, help grow assets under management, and contribute to product development and market intelligence. The position offers exposure to senior debt markets, direct lending, and a broad platform across global and regional fund products. This is an opportunity to shape client experiences and drive growth within Barings’ Private Credit franchise.

Responsibilities

• Act as primary business development liaison for European Private Credit capabilities
• Grow AUM by communicating strategies to clients and prospects
• Provide regular updates on market performance and investment dynamics
• Prepare and participate in client meetings and due-diligence processes (RFPs, DDQs)
• Collaborate with internal teams on client proposals and product development initiatives
• Oversee creation of marketing materials (fact sheets, pitch books)
• Review client reporting and respond to inquiries in a timely manner
• Contribute to thought leadership with investment and marketing staff
• Attend investment team meetings to deepen product expertise

Key requirements

• University degree required; degree in Finance, Economics or related field preferred
• 5-10+ years in investment management or investment specialist roles within Alternatives/Private Assets, preferably Private Credit
• Direct Lending experience a plus
• Strong understanding of Fixed Income and Credit topics
• Excellent oral and written communication; ability to convey market dynamics and risk factors
• Public speaking aptitude and comfort in varied settings
• Analytical mindset with problem-solving approach
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a team environment
• Proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel; MS Office for high-quality presentations
• Data analysis skills; AI fluency
• Self-starter with demonstrated drive and track record
• CFA or CAIA, or willingness to seek designation; willingness to travel
