Head of IT Infrastructure – Central London

Overview

As Head of IT Infrastructure, you will lead the IT infrastructure for a central London bank, shaping the technology landscape and ensuring robust delivery. You’ll bridge hands-on 1st–3rd line support with strategic project management to plan, upgrade, and govern hardware and software environments. You’ll collaborate with senior management on informed decisions and oversee the full project lifecycle in a small team setting. This role offers scope to impact reliability, compliance, and performance across critical banking systems. A strong focus on leadership, delivery, and cross-functional coordination is essential to succeed.

Responsibilities

• Manage and upgrade hardware and software infrastructure
• Lead project planning and delivery throughout the full lifecycle
• Coordinate with senior management for strategic decisions
• Oversee 1st–3rd line support transition into project/leadership roles
• Communicate effectively across all levels within the organisation
• Work in a small IT team to maintain reliability and performance
• Ensure disaster recovery and security practices are enforced
• Handle critical banking systems (e.g., Swift Messaging, EMC SAN)
• Maintain Windows Server environments and AD/SCCM administration

Key requirements

• 7–10 years of hands-on IT infrastructure experience
• Experience from 1st to 3rd line support and progression to head/PM roles
• Proficiency with Active Directory and SCCM server management
• Disaster Recovery planning and execution
• Experience with Swift Messaging
• Windows Server administration
• EMC SAN knowledge
• Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
• Banking sector experience is a plus
