Geotechnical Engineer – Water Sector

Overview

In this role you will support delivery of UK infrastructure programs, with a primary focus on the water sector. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide expert geotechnical guidance to clients and contractors, helping translate ground risk into actionable design insight. The position offers hybrid working in Warrington, Exeter, and Bristol, with clear potential for career progression as AMP8 investment peaks. You will work to develop sustainable, nature-positive geotechnical solutions and contribute to a growing regional practice.

Responsibilities

• Support delivery of UK infrastructure programs, primarily in the water sector
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering and design teams and advise contractors
• Prepare desk studies and initial site characterization reports
• Produce interpretative geotechnical reports for ground investigations
• Perform geotechnical analysis using modern industry software and standards
• Translate ground risk into actionable design intelligence and high-quality solutions

Key requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Geotechnical Engineering, Geology, or related subject
• Chartered status or active progression toward chartership (ICE or Geological Society)
• Experience in desk studies, site characterization, and report writing
• Experience in geotechnical analysis using industry software
• Strong focus on delivering high-quality, nature-positive geotechnical solutions
