Overview
As Head of Banking & Finance, lead the Birmingham banking practice within a national firm, shaping strategy and mentoring the team. You’ll advise banks, lenders and borrowers on high‑value lending transactions and collaborate across corporate, real estate and restructuring teams. Drive growth for the Birmingham office and help secure new work while strengthening key client relationships. This leadership role offers meaningful impact in shaping a core practice area within a respected national firm.

Responsibilities
- Lead a busy, well-established Banking & Finance practice in Birmingham
- Advise on secured and unsecured lending, acquisition and real estate finance, refinancing, asset-based lending and corporate banking
- Collaborate with corporate, real estate, restructuring and insolvency teams to deliver commercially focused advice
- Drive growth of the Birmingham practice and contribute to the firm’s national banking strategy
- Develop client relationships, win new work, and mentor junior lawyers
- Support leadership and development of the team within the firm’s infrastructure
Key requirements
- Extensive Banking & Finance experience at a leading regional, national or international law firm
- Excellent technical ability and strong commercial awareness
- Established Midlands network
- Experience leading teams, developing client relationships and generating new business
- Open to Senior Associate/Partner or Legal Director seeking leadership role
