Overview
In this clinical academic role you will split your time between delivering high-level care in the GSTT Severe Asthma Service and leading clinical research funded by an NHLF Fellowship. You will join a cross-site team with an international reputation, focusing on severe asthma management, biologic therapies, and related eosinophilic diseases. The post includes teaching, audit, and quality improvement to raise care standards while pursuing funded research. A fixed-term 5-year NHLF fellowship supports the research portion, with potential to secure further funding or return to full-time clinical work. Responsibilities
- Provide consultant-level clinical care in severe asthma and biologic therapies within GSTT Severe Asthma Service
- Support and contribute to the cough and upper airway service; experience desirable but not essential
- Engage in clinical research studies, including recruitment to commercial and non-commercial trials
- Publish and present research findings; contribute to teaching and supervision of students/trainees
- Lead or participate in clinical audits and quality improvement initiatives to raise care standards
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across RBH and Guy’s sites to deliver integrated care
- Develop and contribute to annual clinical and organisational audits for service improvement
Key requirements
- GMC registration in good standing
- MRCP or equivalent
- CCT in respiratory medicine
- Significant clinical experience in severe asthma and biologic therapies
- Desirable: Higher degree (PhD or MD) in asthma, NHSE Severe Asthma Centre experience
- Desirable: Clinical experience of cough, upper airway dysfunction, eosinophilic lung diseases
- Peer-reviewed publications in asthma; teaching experience; audit experience; involvement in recruitment to clinical trials
