As a Heritage Consultant within Stantec’s Environmental Assessment group, you will support UK projects across water, highways, and infrastructure by providing heritage advice and mitigation planning. You’ll work in multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality historic environment consultancy, from desk-based assessments to client liaison and risk analysis. The role offers variety, project management opportunities, and a clear path for professional development and chartered status. You will contribute to shaping how major projects engage with the historic environment, with impact on preservation for future generations.

Responsibilities
- Conduct data searches and desk-based assessments to establish heritage context
- Liaise with clients and negotiate with LPA archaeological and heritage advisors
- Perform risk analysis and formulate mitigation strategies for projects of varying scale
- Take on project management responsibilities depending on experience
- Contribute to mapping and heritage screening exercises
- Provide high-quality historic environment consultancy advice across diverse project types
- Collaborate within professional, multidisciplinary teams to deliver solutions
- Utilize GIS where appropriate to support heritage work
Key requirements
- degree in Archaeology or a heritage-related subject
- corporate member of the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists and/or the Institute of Historic Building Conservation, or working towards membership within twelve months
- solid multi-period knowledge of the British archaeological resource
- understanding of UK legislative, consultancy and national planning policy framework
- clear report writing and professional client relationship skills
- commitment to doing heritage consultancy with care for environments, communities and histories
