Azenta UK, Ltd. Azenta is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Quality Scientist to join our dynamic team in Wotton, Surrey. This is a permanent, onsite role suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and brings strong problem solving capabilities, including proficiency in tools such as 5 Whys and Fishbone Diagrams.
What You’ll be Doing
- Manage customer raised product quality issues, identify root causes, and implement permanent corrective actions.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve quality issues efficiently, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Lead and facilitate problem-solving sessions using tools such as: 8D Methodology / 5 Whys / Fishbone Diagrams / FMEA / SPC.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams (Production, Engineering, Supply Chain) to enhance product quality and optimize processes.
- Monitor and update the Quality Dashboard, tracking KPIs including Defects Per Unit.
- Lead on quality control practices and Lean methodologies.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, balancing priorities effectively.
- Support the introduction of new products by ensuring build robustness and reliability.
- Review and approve engineering changes to maintain consistent product quality.
What You’ll Bring
- Scientific or Engineering degree preferable.
- Experience in pharma, biotech, or medical devices.
- Proven experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Strong background in Lean principles, with a focus on process optimization and waste reduction.
- ISO13485 / ISO9001 required.
- Advanced experience with the 8D Methodology.
- Knowledge of plastics/injection molding or the life sciences industry would be highly advantageous.
- Proficiency with analytical tools including Excel, Pivot Tables, and Pareto Charts.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a diverse, dynamic team environment.
- Excellent data presentation and analytical skills.
- Experience with root cause analysis tools like 5 Whys and Fishbone Diagrams.
Working Conditions / Schedule
This position is fully on-site in Wotton, Surrey. Some international travel may be required.
