Overview
In this role you will lead complex flood risk projects within Stantec’s Hydrology and Flood Risk team. You’ll mentor junior colleagues, shape project delivery and quality assurance, and contribute to business development. You will manage a portfolio spanning flood risk appraisal, hydraulic modelling, SuDS design and development planning support to create climate-resilient water environments. Responsibilities
- Lead delivery of complex flood risk and drainage consultancy projects
- Mentor and develop junior staff; drive quality assurance processes
- Support business development and shape the future direction of the capability
- Prepare Flood Risk Assessments aligned with national planning policy
- Perform hydraulic modelling (Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, InfoWorks ICM) and hydrology work (FEH, ReFH2, WINFAP)
- Design surface water drainage strategies and SuDS; LLFA studies (SWMPs, Local Flood Risk Management Plans)
- Contribute to EIA preparation; GIS analysis (ArcGIS Pro or QGIS)
- Liaise with Environment Agency, SEPA, LLFAs and water companies
- Lead high-quality technical reports for diverse audiences
- Manage multiple complex projects simultaneously and drive stakeholder engagement
Key requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Geography, Environmental Science or related discipline; Chartered or working towards chartership with CIWEM or ICE or similar
- Significant experience leading and delivering water environment projects
- Strong leadership, communication and client relationship skills
