About the Role

The Deputy Headteacher supports the Headteacher in the strategic leadership, management and continued improvement of the school. The role involves helping to shape the vision and direction of the academy while ensuring high standards of teaching, learning, behaviour and pupil outcomes.

Key duties include:

  • Supporting the Headteacher in the day-to-day leadership and management of the school.
  • Leading and developing outstanding teaching and learning across the academy.
  • Monitoring and evaluating pupil progress and standards of achievement.
  • Contributing to school improvement planning and implementing strategic priorities.
  • Supporting and motivating staff through effective leadership and professional development.
  • Promoting an inclusive culture where all pupils can thrive and succeed.
  • Building positive relationships with pupils, parents, governors, trust colleagues and external agencies.
  • Ensuring safeguarding procedures are effectively implemented and embedded throughout the school.
  • Supporting the academy in preparing for and responding to inspection and quality assurance processes.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Practising Catholic with a strong commitment to the Catholic ethos and values of the school.

Experience and Skills

  • Proven experience of successful school leadership and management.
  • Outstanding classroom practitioner with a record of improving teaching and learning.
  • Experience of leading school improvement initiatives and raising standards.
  • Strong understanding of educational accountability frameworks, including Ofsted and Catholic school inspections.
  • Ability to analyse data and use it effectively to drive improvement.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience of developing, supporting and motivating staff teams.
