Founding AI Research Engineer

Catapult is hiring a Founding AI Research Engineer to shape its scientific and research direction. The work spans retrieval and knowledge-base systems, reasoning models, and models that reason about information on screen and across other applications.

You will work end to end: framing a problem, forming and testing hypotheses, building the system, and carrying it through to a product people use.

What you will do

• Identify and solve difficult technical and research-level problems.
• Build products end to end, from experimentation to user-facing applications.
• Bring depth in NLP, vision, and AI research.
• Find the next hard technical problem across the product and take it on.

Requirements

• Five or more years of experience on similar research or engineering problems.
• A strong record of solving hard problems in academic or industrial environments.
• The ability to manage scientific workflows and build robust, scalable products.
• Comfort reading, understanding, implementing, and ideally extending current AI research.

Nice to have

• Experience with NLP, LLMs, or other AI and machine-learning systems.
