Overview
In this role you will investigate public health and statutory nuisance cases within Bromley’s Public Health and Nuisance team, guiding proportionate enforcement where needed. You will work with residents, businesses and partners to ensure compliance and improve local environmental conditions. The role offers variety across urban to rural settings and the chance to influence health outcomes and living standards. You will join a collaborative team that values evidence-based decision making and professional judgement.

Responsibilities
- Investigate public health and statutory nuisance complaints
- Apply proportionate remedial or enforcement action when appropriate
- Provide clear, practical advice to residents, businesses, landlords and housing providers
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation
- Manage a broad caseload with independent judgement in sensitive situations
- Collaborate with partners to resolve environmental health concerns
Key requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Environmental Health (or transferable qualifications)
- Full driving licence
- Willingness to undertake some work outside normal office hours
- Local authority experience is an advantage but not essential
- Ability to organise and prioritise a varied caseload
- Evidence-based decision making
- Independent, organised, and able to prioritise
- Strong communication and relationship building
- Team player with collaborative mindset
