Overview
As Modular Fabrication Yard Manager, you oversee the end-to-end fabrication and delivery of modular process equipment and skid-mounted systems in China. You bridge home office project teams, local yards, and global logistics to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery meeting UOP standards and quality/safety norms. You’ll shape yard execution, quality control, and supplier coordination in a high-impact, cross-functional setting. This role offers growth as projects scale and potentially move across borders.
Responsibilities
- Oversee third-party Chinese fabrication yards as the owner construction/fabrication manager
- Monitor daily production schedules, progress, material use, and capacity
- Interpret shop drawings, piping isometrics, BOMs, vendor blueprints, and P&IDs to support yard ops
- Partner with QA/QC to enforce testing protocols (weld inspections, leak testing, NDT)
- Lead HSE efforts to maintain zero-harm culture in yards
- Coordinate with procurement to track bulk materials and issued materials, minimize bottlenecks, and manage shipping prep
- Develop productivity and KPI metrics, manage budget variances, and report risk to regional stakeholders and the UOP project director
- Leverage knowledge of Construction/Fabrication sites advanced work packages; adjust as needed to support delivery
Key requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering plus 10–15 years in heavy industrial manufacturing, modular skid fabrication, or petrochemical plant construction
- 5–10 years in supervisory or vendor-management roles overseeing cross-functional teams
