We are recruiting for an experienced Engineering & Maintenance Manager to join an established manufacturing business in Lancashire.

This is a senior, hands-on management role with responsibility for engineering and maintenance activities across a busy operational site. You will lead and develop the engineering and maintenance function, ensuring equipment, facilities and infrastructure remain safe, reliable and effective.

The role

You will be responsible for:

  • Leading and developing a multi-skilled engineering and maintenance team.
  • Managing planned, preventative and reactive maintenance activities.
  • Improving equipment reliability, availability and overall maintenance performance.
  • Planning engineering resources, priorities and workloads.
  • Supporting plant improvement, engineering and capital projects.
  • Managing contractors and external engineering support.
  • Maintaining appropriate engineering, maintenance and compliance records.
  • Working closely with production, operations, HSE and other departments.
  • Supporting continuous improvement and identifying opportunities to improve plant performance.
  • Ensuring engineering activities are completed safely and in accordance with relevant standards and procedures.
  • Managing engineering and maintenance budgets, suppliers and associated costs.

About you

We are interested in hearing from experienced engineering and maintenance professionals who have worked within manufacturing, engineering, process or another operational environment.

You may currently be working as an Engineering Manager, Maintenance Manager, Mechanical Manager, EC&I Manager, Engineering & Maintenance Manager or in a similar senior engineering position.

Alternatively, you may be an experienced Engineering Supervisor or Maintenance Supervisor ready to take the next step in your career.

You should be able to demonstrate:

  • Previous engineering and/or maintenance experience within an operational environment.
  • Experience managing or supervising engineering or maintenance teams.
  • A practical understanding of planned and reactive maintenance.
  • Strong communication and people-management skills.
  • The ability to work effectively with production and operational teams.
  • A practical, organised and hands-on approach to engineering management.

Experience within a regulated, high-hazard or process manufacturing environment would be useful but is not essential.
