Transport Planner – Long-Haul & Bulk Logistics

Overview

In this role you support the UK operation for a major FMCG customer, coordinating drivers, vehicles and deliveries to keep the transport plan moving despite changes. You’ll work with UK and Netherlands planners to respond to delays, optimize fleet utilisation and maintain service, safety and quality standards. The position offers international collaboration, hands-on problem solving and development within a specialist logistics business, with scope to grow into greater responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate drivers, vehicles, deliveries and collections
• Manage shifting schedules and address operational issues quickly
• Monitor driver/vehicle availability against demand
• Support efficient route planning and fleet utilisation
• Adhere to drivers’ hours, WTD and transport compliance
• Communicate with drivers, customers and stakeholders
• Collaborate with UK and Netherlands planning teams
• Monitor performance and resolve delivery/collection issues
• Coordinate with subcontractors and transport suppliers as needed
• Maintain accurate transport records and planning information
• Identify opportunities to improve planning efficiency

Key requirements

• Experience in transport or logistics planning
• Hands-on transport planning experience
• Experience coordinating drivers, vehicles, routes, deliveries and collections
• Exposure to long-haul road transport or bulk logistics
• Understanding of drivers’ hours and WTD requirements
• Knowledge of day-to-day fleet and transport operations
• Experience using transport management or route planning systems
• Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills
• Proactive, practical, solutions-focused approach
• Ability to commute to Bournville
