Finance & Operations Director

Overview

In this Finance & Operations Director role, you will steward the charity’s day-to-day financial, operational, and legal affairs to support service delivery for young people. You will partner with the CEO and Trustees to shape strategy, budgets, and income generation, while leading HR, fundraising, and governance compliance. The position sits at the core of financial stewardship and organisational operations, driving sustainable growth and partnerships. This is a chance to influence impact at scale within a mission-driven charity.

Responsibilities

• Strategic, business and financial planning with the CEO and Trustees to grow activities and impact
• Lead development/management of business plans and budgets, including venue income strategy
• Set and monitor realistic financial targets to realise the charity’s ambitions
• Develop/maintain Corporate Partnerships and long-term relationships with partners
• Support financial partnerships strategy for 2025 and beyond
• Line manage the Fundraising team and develop a weighted pipeline of income
• Oversee day-to-day bookkeeping, invoicing, bank reconciliation, and weekly payroll
• Prepare annual budget and monthly management accounts with accountants
• Ensure regulatory compliance (Charity Commission, Companies House) and tax relief claims
• Oversee HR responsibilities and staff policies; payroll, pensions, HMRC submissions
• Oversee contracting with freelancers/partners/volunteers and negotiate terms
• Act as Data Protection Lead and ensure GDPR compliance
• Act as Premises Licence holder and ensure Islington Council conditions are met
• Ensure Enhance DBS clearance eligibility
