Overview

In this Studio Lead role you own the London studio’s performance, lead strategy and people, and drive client development while remaining closely connected to live projects. You’ll steer profitability, new business, pricing, and terms, and set design and technical quality across the studio. You represent the firm at sector events and influence company-wide strategy. This is a chance to lead a high-performing team within a respected AJ100 practice.

Responsibilities

  • Own the studio’s financial performance end to end, including budgeting, forecasting, resourcing and margin
  • Drive new business and build a healthy opportunities pipeline, converting them into instructed work
  • Lead pricing, fee negotiations and client terms
  • Stay involved in fee-earning work alongside management responsibilities
  • Set the bar for design and technical quality across all studio output
  • Monitor project progress studio-wide and resolve issues early
  • Coach and grow the team to foster accountability and high performance
  • Represent the business at sector events and with prospective clients
  • Contribute to wider company strategy at leadership level

Key requirements

  • Senior leadership experience in a consultancy, engineering or design-led business
  • Proven track record of winning new work and growing client accounts profitably
  • Commercial confidence with responsibility for numbers, not just reporting
  • History of delivering projects on time, on budget and to a high standard
  • Strong influencing and stakeholder skills with sound judgement under pressure
  • Comfort with splitting time between studio leadership and live project work
  • Solid grasp of quality assurance and risk management
  • Drive, accountability and ability to lead from the front
