Overview

As a Chartered Senior Building Surveyor in Knight Frank’s Commercial Building Consultancy, you will lead professional surveying instructions and manage projects across a diverse client portfolio. You’ll build strong client relationships, contribute to business development, and mentor junior staff within a collaborative, entrepreneurial culture. The role spans professional and project work, including due diligence, dilapidations, and party wall matters, shaping outcomes for prominent occupiers, investors, and developers. You’ll operate within a high-standard, cross-functional team focused on client-centric property advice.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver professional building surveying instructions
  • Manage project delivery including project management and contract administration
  • Perform technical due diligence and pre-acquisition surveys
  • Provide dilapidations, landlord and tenant, and party wall advice
  • Prepare specifications, schedules of condition and defect reports
  • Conduct building pathology assessments and reinstatement cost assessments
  • Ensure timely, high-quality project delivery
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships
  • Identify and secure new business opportunities
  • Promote services through networking and industry engagement
  • Collaborate with colleagues to generate cross-selling opportunities
  • Support fee income and business growth objectives
  • Mentor and support junior surveyors and graduates
  • Share knowledge and best practices across the team
  • Foster an inclusive and collaborative working environment

Key requirements

  • MRICS qualification
  • Experience in commercial building surveying
  • Strong knowledge of landlord and tenant matters, dilapidations, due diligence and project work
  • Working knowledge of JCT contracts
  • Excellent report-writing and communication skills
  • Client-focused and commercially aware
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
  • Experience mentoring junior team members
