Overview

We are currently recruiting a Lecturer & Programme Leader – Refrigeration & Air Conditioning to support Northumberland College. This is a fantastic opportunity for experienced lecturers and Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heat Pump (RACHP) professionals with a passion for supporting students within a Further Education environment.

The Role

As a Lecturer & Programme Leader – Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, you will deliver engaging and inspiring lessons across refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump programmes, helping learners develop the skills, knowledge, and behaviours needed to succeed within the industry. You will also play a key role in supporting curriculum development and programme leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivering Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heat Pump lessons to FE students and apprentices
  • Planning, preparing, and assessing learning in line with curriculum requirements
  • Developing and updating curriculum materials to reflect current industry standards and employer expectations
  • Supporting learners with target setting, progress reviews, and achievement of qualifications
  • Monitoring learner progress and maintaining accurate student records
  • Ensuring practical teaching is delivered safely and in line with health and safety requirements
  • Supporting employer engagement and maintaining strong industry links
  • Promoting safeguarding, equality, diversity, and professional standards within the classroom

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience teaching Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heat Pumps within a Further Education setting, or significant industry experience within the RACHP sector
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills
  • Ability to motivate and support learners to achieve their goals
  • A minimum Level 3 qualification in a relevant Refrigeration, Air Conditioning or Heat Pump discipline
  • English and Maths Level 2 or equivalent
  • Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training (or equivalent), or willingness to work towards one
  • Level 3 Assessor qualification, or willingness to work towards one
  • Experience delivering practical and theoretical training
  • Knowledge of apprenticeship standards and working with employers would be advantageous
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain)
