Senior Building Services Quantity Surveyor

Overview

In this role you will lead Building Services surveying across the London region, coordinating subcontract procurement, valuations and final accounts while maintaining strong client and contractor relationships. You will support project commercial control, risk planning and cashflow forecasting, ensuring contract compliance and effective delivery. The role sits in the London Building Services team, contributing to BAM’s sustainable construction mission. You will work with cross-functional teams to drive opportunities and improve design and delivery. This is a high-impact position at a leading contractor with exposure to complex, two-stage tender environments.

Responsibilities

• Procurement of subcontract packages
• Assembling enquiry documentation
• Obtaining and analysing Subcontractor quotations and making recommendations
• Preparing Subcontractor order documentation
• Making payments to Subcontractors/Suppliers
• Commercial control of subcontract packages
• Support for main contract valuation preparation
• Assist in monthly/quarterly forecast reporting and cashflow
• Preparation, submission, agreement of variations and final accounts
• Support and contribute to project risk and opportunity planning
• Maintaining professional relationships with clients, consultants, sub-contractors and suppliers
• Seeking design opportunities to improve project delivery
• Management of client valuations and variations through final account
• Ensuring compliance with contract requirements

Key requirements

• Experience with a main contractor in construction, in single & two-stage tender environments
• Experience managing and working within a team
• Degree qualification and/or working towards MRICS, MCIOB, or equivalent
• Proactive, collaborative attitude with clients and team
• Strong negotiation and attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel & Word
• Experience with BIM and computer aided measurement tools
• Experience preparing valuations, variations and final accounts
• Experience managing sub-contract accounts & procurement
• Understanding health and safety regulations
