Chartered/Senior Building Surveyor – London

Company: Woodhouse Property Recruitment
Apply for the Chartered/Senior Building Surveyor – London
Location: London
Job Description:

Are you a Chartered Building Surveyor (MRICS) looking for a role where you can continue to develop technically, commercially and professionally — with genuine progression available when you’re ready?

I’m working with an established property consultancy in London that is looking to add a Senior / Chartered Building Surveyor to its team.

This isn’t simply a role focused on delivering instructions. There is a genuine opportunity to develop your client relationships, commercial awareness, leadership skills and wider business development experience alongside your technical surveying work.

THE ROLE

The position has a strong Professional Building Surveying focus, working across a varied commercial project pipeline.

You’ll be involved in:

  • Dilapidations
  • Technical Due Diligence
  • Defects and building pathology
  • Planned maintenance
  • Refurbishment and fit-out projects
  • Specifications and tendering
  • Contract Administration
  • Site inspections
  • Project delivery from start to finish

You’ll have direct client exposure, providing strong technical advice, developing relationships and, over time, identifying opportunities for repeat business and cross selling of other service lines.

There’s also a genuine commercial element to the position. You’ll contribute to fee proposals and bids, while developing your understanding of profitability, P&L and wider financial management within a consultancy environment.

You’ll also have the opportunity to support and develop more junior members of the team, including colleagues working through their APC.

WHO ARE THEY LOOKING FOR?

You must be a Chartered Building Surveyor (MRICS) with strong consultancy experience.

Ideally, you’ll have experience across both Professional and Project Building Surveying, although this isn’t essential. The workload can be tailored around your existing experience and the areas you’d like to develop further.

You’ll ideally have:

  • Strong technical knowledge of commercial property
  • Good understanding of building pathology and Landlord & Tenant matters
  • Experience delivering refurbishment and fit out projects
  • Strong Contract Administration experience
  • Excellent report writing skills
  • Strong professional surveying experience
  • Proven consultancy and client-facing experience
  • An interest in developing your business development skills
  • A desire to build your commercial awareness around P&L and profitability

They’re looking for someone who wants to develop beyond the technical delivery of surveying instructions and become increasingly involved in clients, commercial performance, mentoring and business development.

CAREER PROGRESSION

One of the biggest attractions of this opportunity is the approach to progression.

There isn’t a mentality of “you need to wait “X” years before you’re considered for the next level.”

Progression is linked to personal performance and readiness.

If you’re delivering, developing your skill set and demonstrating that you’re ready to take on more responsibility, the conversation happens.

Whether that’s greater client responsibility, mentoring junior staff, increased commercial involvement or progression into a more senior position, your career can develop in line with what you achieve, rather than simply how long you’ve been in the role.

THE PACKAGE

  • – Salary up to £75k
  • – Hybrid working – 3 days office / 2 days home
  • – 26 days annual leave + Christmas closure
  • – Private healthcare
  • – Enhanced pension
  • – Further benefits

Interview Process

The process is deliberately straightforward:

Apply → First Stage via Teams → Final Stage face-to-face → Offer → Join

No unnecessary stages. No overthinking it.

If you’re a Chartered Building Surveyor looking for a consultancy where you can continue developing technically while gaining greater exposure to clients, commercial management, business development and leadership, this could be worth a conversation.
