We are seeking a welcoming, organised and proactive Parish Administrator to support the Parish Priest in the effective day-to-day administration of Baldock Parish. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, has strong administrative skills, and would like to contribute to the life and mission of the local parish community.

About the Role

As Parish Administrator, you will be the first point of contact for parishioners, visitors, clergy and volunteers, helping to ensure the smooth running of the parish office. You will provide comprehensive administrative support, coordinate parish communications, maintain records and databases, and assist with the organisation of parish events and activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the first point of contact for parish enquiries and visitors.
  • Prepare and distribute weekly newsletters, Mass sheets, notices and other parish communications.
  • Maintain parish databases, records and filing systems.
  • Manage parish appointments, room bookings and event schedules.
  • Prepare certificates and support correspondence on behalf of the Parish Priest.
  • Assist with the administration of baptisms, weddings and funerals, including maintaining registers and preparing documentation.
  • Support parish fundraising and community activities.
  • Coordinate volunteer rotas and assist with parish administration as required.
  • Ensure records are maintained in line with diocesan procedures and GDPR requirements

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking someone who is not only competent in administration but who also embodies our diocesan values of Competence, Reliability, Honesty, Perseverance, and Love.

  • Has previous experience in an administrative or secretarial role.
  • Possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Is highly organised with strong attention to detail.
  • Can manage multiple priorities and work independently.
  • Demonstrates initiative, adaptability and problem-solving skills.
  • Is confident using Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
  • Can build positive relationships with clergy, staff, volunteers and parishioners.
  • Demonstrates sensitivity, respect and professionalism when dealing with a diverse range of people.
  • Experience working within a faith-based, charity or non-profit environment.
  • An AAT qualification or equivalent.
  • A basic understanding of the Catholic Church and its structures.
  • A desire to support the mission of the Catholic Church.

Experience working in a faith-based or charitable setting is welcome but not essential.
