Overview

As Senior IT Portfolio Manager, you will steer the IT project portfolio to align with business goals and maximise technology ROI. You’ll partner with IT Finance and cross-functional teams to balance demand, allocate resources, and track portfolio health. You’ll implement governance and reporting that enable data-driven decisions and transparent execution. Responsibilities

  • Continuously evaluate, prioritise and manage IT project proposals to align with organisational goals and deliver value
  • Oversee resource allocation across the portfolio to optimise utilization and manage constraints
  • Maintain visibility of portfolio progress, risks and outcomes and adjust plans as priorities change
  • Identify, assess and mitigate risks across the project portfolio with regular status updates
  • Proactively address issues to minimise impact and facilitate solutions
  • Analyze project data to produce performance insights (financials, resources, outcomes) and inform decision-making
  • Develop and refine portfolio reporting frameworks for senior leadership visibility
  • Collaborate with IT Finance Business Partners to ensure accurate financial operations and reporting for Run-Grow-Transform investments
  • Establish FinOps practices to optimise cloud cost management and determine total cost of ownership
  • Lead annual budgeting, strategic reviews, planning and prioritisation across business units
  • Present portfolio performance to committees and executives, recommending resource adjustments and alignment with business goals
  • Prepare reports with key metrics such as TCO, cloud spend, and resource allocation
  • Support governance, transparency, and accountability across the portfolio

Key requirements

  • Extensive portfolio and project management experience in IT or technology-driven environments
  • Experience managing diverse portfolios including Run-Grow-Transform initiatives
  • Significant experience with budgeting, cost control and resource allocation
  • Strong stakeholder management and ability to engage with senior leaders
  • Risk management and governance expertise with proven mitigation strategies
  • Excellent communication and storytelling for diverse audiences and executive leadership
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking to align portfolio decisions with business goals
  • Familiarity with PPM tools; knowledge of cloud cost management and FinOps is desirable
