Overview

In this role you lead Sarepta’s medical engagement with international neuromuscular experts to shape medical strategy and external partnerships. You will provide scientific leadership across DMD and related conditions, translating insights into strategy for medical affairs, clinical development, and launch planning. The position requires autonomous leadership within a complex, matrixed organization and frequent interaction with global KOLs to advance Sarepta’s investigational pipeline. A key part of the role is building long-term scientific relationships and ensuring high-quality medical discussions across regions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute international KOL engagement strategy aligned with Global Medical Affairs objectives
  • Serve as primary medical liaison to international KOLs, investigators, and academic networks
  • Cultivate relationships with leaders in DMD, FSHD, DM1, and neurological disorders
  • Generate actionable scientific insights to inform medical strategy, clinical development, and launch planning
  • Provide medical leadership for advisory boards, investigator meetings, congress activities, and educational initiatives
  • Support ongoing clinical trials through investigator engagement and site identification
  • Support investigator-initiated research, registries, and evidence generation initiatives
  • Stay informed on literature and trends, translating findings into strategic recommendations
  • Collaborate with Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Operations, Advocacy, and Commercial teams
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory and ethical guidelines and complete reporting timely

Key requirements

  • Advanced scientific or clinical degree (e.g. MD, MB BCh BAO, MBBS, MBChB, Dr. med., PharmD, PhD) or equivalent qualification
  • Significant clinical, scientific and/or Medical Affairs experience at regional or global level
  • Experience as Medical Director/Senior Medical Director or similar leadership role
  • Neurology/Pediatric/neuromuscular experience and relationships beneficial
  • Knowledge of DMD; experience with FSHD, DM1, SMA or other rare neuromuscular disorders valuable
  • Experience supporting clinical development and understanding of trial design and data interpretation
  • Proven ability to build long-term relationships with KOLs and investigators
  • Ability to translate scientific insights into strategic medical decisions
  • Strong presentation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
