Mobile Team Tech Lead, London, Contractor

Overview

In this on-site Mobile Team Tech Lead role, you drive the technical direction and delivery of complex mobile projects for Lab49’s financial services clients. You will design and ship high-quality iOS and Android apps, mentor engineers, and align technical decisions with business goals. You’ll work closely with stakeholders to ensure scalable, user-friendly experiences on banking platforms, including onboarding and money movement, with a focus on greenfield mobile capabilities and market expansion.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver iOS/Android applications from a product and technical perspective
• Steer architecture and engineering best practices across the team
• Lead and mentor engineers to improve autonomy and delivery quality
• Collaborate with client stakeholders, designers, product partners, and leadership
• Contribute to process improvements and adopt new technologies
• Maintain on-site presence with direct client interactions and accountability
• Ensure delivery aligns with business objectives and regulatory requirements

Key requirements

• 10-12+ years of software development experience
• 4+ years leading Agile/engineering teams
• Proficiency in Swift and native iOS toolchain (SwiftUI, UIKit, SwiftData, Swift Concurrency)
• Experience in consumer banking onboarding and account management
• RESTful API integration and third-party libraries
• Knowledge of CI/CD for mobile applications
• Strong mobile UI/UX understanding and user-centric design
