Overview

As an Area Business Manager, you will manage and grow a dairy-focused territory in North West Wales, building trusted farmer relationships and driving the commercial performance of NMR services. You’ll combine field visits with data-driven guidance to improve herd outcomes and service adoption. By collaborating with colleagues and partner businesses, you’ll expand the local presence and ensure high service standards. This role offers meaningful impact in a purpose-driven, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of on-farm customers with a focus on retention and long‑term value
  • Develop new business by prospecting non-customers and maintaining a robust sales pipeline
  • Promote the full NMR service portfolio (milk recording, disease testing, genomics)
  • Help customers interpret data to improve herd performance
  • Act as main contact for customer queries and coordinate with service teams
  • Support onboarding of new farms to NMR services
  • Maintain a visible presence in the farming community through events and farm activities
  • Collaborate with partners (Feedlync, KW Feeds, Kite Consulting) to deliver integrated solutions
  • Keep CRM records up to date with interactions and opportunities

Key requirements

  • Demonstrated sales or commercial account management experience, ideally in agriculture or dairy
  • Solid knowledge of the dairy industry to earn farmers’ trust quickly
  • Consultative selling style focused on customer needs and relationships
  • Commercial focus with emphasis on value, growth and retained business
  • Ability to work independently in a home-based, territory-led role
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for face‑to‑face engagement
  • Good administrative discipline, CRM usage, and follow-up management
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel extensively within the territory
