Overview

In this role you will support contaminated land assessment and remediation projects within WSP’s Ground and Water team. You work with a cross-functional team to deliver field investigations, data interpretation, and technical reporting that meet high safety and environmental standards. The position offers strong development through training and mentoring, with opportunities to contribute to landmark projects and advance your career. You will be based in the North/North East of England and may travel across the UK. This role is a chance to shape land contamination solutions for private and public sectors.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage site investigations on-site
  • Conduct field work including soil logging, environmental sampling, and ground gas monitoring
  • Collate, review, and interpret data from investigations
  • Support site investigation design
  • Prepare technical reports (desk studies, site investigation reports, remediation studies, verification reports)
  • Ensure work adheres to procedures and high safety, health and environmental standards
  • Engage in Phase 1 desk studies and Phase 2 site investigation design and reporting
  • Coordinate with clients and subcontractors and work within a project team

Key requirements

  • On-site experience of site investigation and related field work
  • Experience preparing Phase 1 contaminated land/geo-environmental desk studies
  • Knowledge of planning, design, and management of site investigations
  • Experience of soil logging
  • Knowledge of CDM Regulations in site investigations
  • Knowledge of the UK land contamination regime and risk-based assessment approaches
  • Report writing with concise, accurate information
  • Data handling experience; GIS knowledge desirable
  • Clear communication with clients and team
