An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Graduate Civil / Structural Engineer to join a growing engineering consultancy following the opening of its new Edinburgh office.

This is a chance to work on projects that go beyond traditional structural engineering, supporting specialist work across security design, blast and ballistic engineering, hostile vehicle mitigation, counter-terrorism and weapons effects on structures.

You’ll join a growing local team while benefiting from the knowledge and expertise of a wider national engineering network.

What you’ll be doing

  • Structural and engineering calculations and analysis
  • Developing sketches and technical solutions
  • Supporting specialist security and engineering projects
  • Applying engineering principles to unusual and complex problems
  • Working with multidisciplinary design teams
  • Contributing to projects from concept through to delivery
  • Developing your knowledge of specialist analysis and engineering techniques

What we’re looking for

  • Engineering degree – BEng, MEng, MSc or PhD
  • Understanding of civil, structural or mechanical analysis methods
  • Knowledge of structural materials and engineering principles
  • Understanding of the construction industry
  • Strong problem-solving ability
  • A hardworking, curious and self-motivated approach
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively
  • UK national or able to demonstrate 5+ years’ UK residency

Desirable skills

  • Experience or knowledge of:
  • CAD packages
  • Dynamic analysis
  • Blast and impact effects
  • Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
  • Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)
  • Civil or structural engineering design
