Overview
In this role you will provide clinical leadership and supervision across general practice within the South Southwark PCN. You will support medicines management, knowledge-sharing, and quality improvement initiatives, while working in a multidisciplinary team to reshape neighbourhood care. You will mentor pharmacists, oversee education and training, and drive long-term conditions management and service development. This is a collaborative, learning-oriented opportunity with a clear impact on population health and care integration.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct line management of appointed clinical pharmacists
- Conduct monthly one-to-one meetings with pharmacists
- Plan and implement inductions with Education and Training Lead
- Act as Designated Practitioner (DP) and Designated Prescribing Practitioner (DPP) for foundation trainee pharmacists
- Deliver training with Education and Training Lead
- Support long-term condition management and medicine reviews
- Provide leadership on medicines optimisation and quality improvement
- Assist with prescription/medication queries and processes
- Foster collaboration with community and hospital pharmacy
- Contribute to service development with data and progress updates
- Ensure adherence to IHL policies and professional standards
- Engage in mandatory training and personal development
Key requirements
- GPhC registration
- Minimum GP experience 3 years
- MPharm (Master in Pharmacy) or equivalent
- Independent Prescriber
- Postgraduate diploma-level or equivalent training/experience (CPPE Primary Care Pharmacy Education Pathway)
- Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience
- In-depth therapeutic and clinical knowledge, evidence-based practice
- Understanding of general practice challenges and rational prescribing
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Good IT skills and ability to analyse complex information
- Ability to lead, motivate and inspire a team
