Overview
As Global Programme Director – Finance Technology you shape and govern WPP’s finance transformation portfolio. You will translate a multi-year agenda into a clear roadmap, standardising platforms, data, and processes to improve control and business insight. You lead a global, cross-functional portfolio across Finance, technology, and regions to deliver measurable value. You’ll partner with senior leaders to secure decisions, manage trade-offs, and raise delivery confidence. This is an influential, high-visibility role that drives enterprise-wide impact through finance technology modernization.

Responsibilities
- Shape and sequence the global Finance ERP roadmap with fewer platforms and harmonised controls
- Lead the transition from legacy consolidation tooling to an enterprise performance management capability
- Strengthen delivery confidence, investment discipline and benefits realisation across a high-value portfolio
- Define the global Finance Technology portfolio vision and multi-year roadmap
- Translate priorities into a deliverable, sequenced portfolio balancing value, capacity and risk
- Establish portfolio governance, investment controls, stage gates, and executive reporting
- Lead and coordinate a portfolio of finance transformation programmes with clear sponsorship and accountability
- Manage portfolio risks, resources, budgets, dependencies, and executive escalations
- Build relationships with senior leaders to align priorities and maintain momentum
- Shape business cases and funding recommendations with cost–benefit analysis and business value
- Manage system integrators, software vendors, and delivery partners to meet commitments
- Lead and coach programme directors and PMOs to raise delivery standards and accountability
Key requirements
- Extensive experience leading large-scale finance technology and ERP transformations in a global organisation
- Proven track record managing multi-year transformation portfolios with significant budgets and multiple partners
- Strong understanding of finance operating models including ERP, consolidation, planning, forecasting, reporting, analytics and data
- Director-level leadership presence with ability to influence C-suite and senior executives
- Strong portfolio governance, investment management, benefits realisation, RAID and dependency management
- Commercially confident with vendor and partner management against commitments and performance measures
- Exceptional communication skills to simplify complex issues for executives
- Ability to create clarity in ambiguity and lead matrixed teams across geographies and functions
- Strong change management, adoption, and operating model embedding capabilities
- Resilient, with integrity and judgement to challenge when value, control or delivery is at risk
